Shop Fanimation - Arden Fan      Unique designs, unusual blades and unexpected materials set Fanimation ceiling and desk fans apart, and the story behind every Fanimation Fan is one of discovery, dedication and innovation mixed with a love of travel and adventure.

Fanimation Fans was established in 1984 by Tom Frampton, and by then, he’d already acquired ten years of experience in the fan manufacturing industry. Tom’s passion for fans was so intense that he had spent his off-hours developing his own designs, and the founding of his own company was the only possible direction for a designer so committed to his craft.

During this time, Tom was living in Pasadena, California, a renowned hub for industrial design, and it was in his garage-workshop where he designed the Punkah, a side-to-side synchronized fan with an exotic touch of India. The Punkah led to the Palmetto, which led to Bourbon Streets and a host of other memorable Fanimation ceiling fans. As Fanimation Fans grew, Tom developed a comprehensive collection of fans ranging from traditional to tropical, and nostalgic to ultra-modern.

One of Tom’s most distinctive designs is the Fanimation Palisade from 1987. Featuring a horizontal rod that supports two vertical rotation fans, the Palisade is available in antique brass, oil-rubbed bronze, pewter or rust finishes with filigree detail and natural palm blades--elements that add a weekend-getaway ambiance to residential and commercial interiors. The Palisade balances a tropical-nostalgic form with useful functions, including multiple lighting options and remote control-adaptability.

Another hallmark of Fanimation Fans fuses diverse inspiration and innovative details. With a palm tree medallion, hand-painted parrot glass and natural palm-leaf blades, the Fanimation Islander from 1990 instantly adds a breezy island-hopping vibe to environments ranging from cozy nooks to grand-scale hotel lobbies. The Fanimation Islander is available with a variety of blade sets, controls, lighting and downrod options to provide the speed and performance best suited to a space.

Fast forward to 1997, when Tom moved his growing company to Indianapolis, Indiana. Although the company now has a significant industry footprint, it continues to be a family-run organization. Tom’s son Nathan leads the business side, leaving Tom free to travel the globe, pursue his role as a designer and collect antique fans and memorabilia for his fan museum.

Each new design from Fanimation Fans is inspired by Tom’s worldwide travels, yet the company maintains a strong localized culture where quality production is united with quality of life. Fanimation fans are produced in warehouses with energy-efficient lighting; they’re packaged in recycled materials; and the fans themselves are Energy Star-rated. For nearly 30 years, Fanimation Fans has been offering a comprehensive range of original fans, along with reproduction styles with modern function and safety features, guided by environmentally-friendly practices. 1STOPlighting offers the complete Fanimation ceiling and desk fan collection, and if you’re seeking additional styles, please email us or call customer service.
