JPEG is a type of digital image file. Digital images are comprised of pixels, which directly effects resolution or clarity of your image. If the image is made up of many small pixels, it will look smooth and crisp. If it's made up of fewer large pixels, the image will be jagged and unclear, or pixilated. This translates to print quality - the more pixels in your photos, the better the prints will look.
If your image file is not saved as a JPEG file, open the image file, go to “File” then click “Save As.” Below the “File name” box there is a box labeled “Save as type,” choose JPEG, and then click the “Save” button.
To figure out the size of your JPEG image file or the number of pixels, right click on the file. Choose “Properties” then “Summary.” There you will find the image size in pixels.
